How did you get your start in the Music Industry?
I studied at Box Hill about 1000 years ago, and formed a few bands with fellow students. It's amazing that I still keep in regular contact with two of those musicians. Life-long friendships!
I've been blessed to play music for many years, with so many beautiful people.
Are you working on anything at the moment?
Am currently writing new material with the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, which includes a collaboration with an indigenous artist, Robbie Thorpe. Stay tuned!
Have begun conversations to record with Holy Smokes, which is a trio consisting of Matt Bush and Griffin O'Neill (ex-Box Hill)
Recently recorded music in Dakar with Jigeen Ñi, Senegal's all-female band. It was an amazing experience!
Will be performing as special guest with Lamine Sonko and indigenous artists in August
What's your favourite memory from being a part of the Music Industry?
Too many to choose from! One that sticks out was playing at Womadelaide, when two thunderstorm systems converged above us as we were about to start. The crowd stayed with us and we all had an incredible shared experience.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Find your voice, and own your sound
What is your favourite song?
Yikes! Do you mean my favourite song in this very nano-second? I recently changed my ring tone to "Thin Thing" by The Smile.
Thanks for letting us learn a little bit more about you!
Check in next week to meet another BHI Faculty Member.
